As the world bears witness to the widespread protests that directly confront racism and the institutions that uphold its existence, monuments continue to function as sites of radical gathering and critical action. This keynote discussion focused on acknowledging, removing, and reimaging how monuments function within our society. The event featured Zyahna Bryant, student activist and community organizer; Geoff Ward, Professor of African and African-American Studies at Washington University in St. Louis; and lauren woods, artist, in conversation with Paul M. Farber, Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Monument Lab. Poet and storyteller Cheeraz Gormon started the conversation off with an opening reading.
