St. Louis Symphony Orchestra soloists take center stage in Come Closer, featuring an international roster of composers from Belize, China, Jamaica, and the United States.
The music for this performance was selected in relationship to Veronica Ryan: Unruly Objects, centers themes of interconnectedness. Eleanor Alberga’s composition reflects on the generational transmission of a lullaby, while Errollyn Wallen composes trance-like dance rhythms and melodies. Wang Lu’s piece contemplates our relationship with the planet and other species, and John Fitz Rogers’ virtuosic work showcases the bassoon in rapid, knit-like patterns.
