With a wealth of works by Richard Serra in the St. Louis area, this series of bus tours visited local sites that were exhibiting his work at the time, including the Saint Louis Art Museum, the Sheldon Art Galleries, Pulitzer Arts Foundation, and downtown St. Louis, where his permanent sculpture Twain is installed. The tours were sponsored by the Contemporary Art Partnership, a collaboration between the Pulitzer, the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, and the Saint Louis Art Museum. The partnership aimed to present and interpret contemporary art and architecture to diverse groups through its docent program, which encouraged conversations and engaged the public in new ways of experiencing art.
