Athanasios Argianas, exhibiting artist in Art of Its Own Making, presented Music Sideways (Canon for three voices), a vocal canon based on a single melodic line sung by three singers. Eschewing the preordained and predictable, Argianas produces installations, performances, objects, and music that create open and intuitive systems. For this piece, each singer starts from one of three different points in time, which forms a virtual, revolving triangle. At the Pulitzer, a trio of singers from the St. Louis Symphony Chorus performed in the galleries throughout the day, repeating the canon in a different location at the top of every hour.
