Renowned art historian Anna C. Chave, who is the author of an essay in the Mona Hatoum: Terra Infirma exhibition catalogue, will discuss Hatoum’s work as it relates to the history of Minimalism, in addition to Marcel Duchamp’s historic use of ‘ready-made’ objects within the context of contemporary art. Chave is professor emerita of Art History at the Graduate Center, City University of New York. She has published many essays on issues of gender and identity, and reception and interpretation. Chave is known for her revisionist readings of Minimalism and her monographs on Rothko and Brancusi. The exhibition catalogue is available for purchase online or at the museum.
