With nearly fifty African objects on loan from public institutions and private collections throughout Europe and the United States, Kota: Digital Excavations in African Art raised important questions about the Kota reliquary guardian figures and their relationship to the historical effects of colonialism in Central Africa. To examine this complex critical issue, the Pulitzer hosted a public conversation led by Nichole Bridges, Associate Curator for African Art at the Saint Louis Art Museum. This program aimed to foster dialogue about curatorial research in the field, including the appreciation, study, and stewardship of these works both historically and in the present.
