Celebrate photography created by St. Louis youth through a photographic workshop organized by teaching artists Carly Ann Faye and Regina Martinez. Influenced by Medardo Rosso’s experimentation with sculpture, serial documentation, lighting conditions, and darkroom processes, young members of the Pagedale community will photograph each other and their environment over the course of a multi-week workshop. The artists will work with medium format Holga cameras which are known for their simplicity, plastic body, and mechanical idiosyncrasies such as light leaks and vignettes, paralleling Rosso’s practice. Participants will explore the relationship between film and the intimate glimpses of a subject from their daily lives. The public is invited to attend a culminating display of the young artists’ work which will be installed on the Pulitzer’s Mezzanine.
