Stop by the museum during First Fridays in Grand Center and make creative woven artwork with upcycled materials. Much like Hannah Wilke’s non-conformist use of art materials, woven art has roots in feminism and going against the grain. Arts educator and textile artist Emily Prescott will lead a drop-in workshop where you can learn to weave tapestries, coasters, and other small textiles on a cardboard loom. Create a unique piece of art to keep or gift to another this season. Can’t make it? Try this activity at home.
Additionally, our Teen Arts Council will be kicking off an end-of-year donation drive. In partnership with St. Louis Alliance for Period Supplies, they will be collecting period products throughout the month of December. Unopened packages of pads, liners, tampons, cups, and discs will be gladly accepted at the information desk all evening long.
