Cut-Outs and Stop Motion: Screening of Animated Shorts by Women Artists

Join Assistant Curator Stephanie Weissberg and visual artist Sarah Paulsen for a screening and discussion of animated short films. Inspired by Rough Cut: Independent Japanese Animation, this screening focuses on women directors, a historically underrepresented group in the film industry. The discussion will reflect on materiality and technique, the evolution of animation over the past century, and new modes of production and distribution in contemporary work.
