Move with facilitator Christopher Alex Chable for Capoeira, a traditional Afro-Brazilian martial art.
Capoeira de Angola, developed in Brazil in the early 1500s by enslaved West African and Indigenous peoples as a resistance to oppression, incorporates dance, martial arts, ritual movements, and music elements. Learn this movement technique in a workshop designed for beginners and those with prior experience. All ages and abilities are welcome.
Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably and remove any jewelry or adornment that could come off during movement practice. This program will take place in the museum’s lower main gallery. Seating will be provided upon request. Beverages are not permitted in the galleries.
Space is limited. Individual registration is required. Please contact programs@pulitzerarts.org if you require any accommodations to participate.
