The Pulitzer Arts Foundation presents the first retrospective of trailblazing artist Barbara Chase-Riboud (b. 1939, Philadelphia) in over forty years. This exhibition is the largest monographic exhibition of her work to date, tracing the artist’s full career from the 1950s to the present moment. The Pulitzer features both celebrated and never-before-seen works, highlighting the artist’s groundbreaking role in the field of contemporary sculpture. In addition to twenty five some sculptures, the exhibition includes twenty works on paper as well as a selection of Chase-Riboud’s internationally acclaimed poetry. When considered together, these diverse aspects of the artist’s practice offer unprecedented insight into her meditations on form, memory, and monument, while revealing a rich array of global art-historical and literary points of inspiration.
