Internationally acclaimed vocalist and songwriter Somi blends influences from jazz standards and African music, building a career devoted to transatlantic sound and storytelling. Also celebrated as an activist, Somi will perform songs from her latest album, Petite Afrique (2017), which tells the story of African immigrants in the midst of a gentrified Harlem, New York, and won a 2018 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Jazz Album. This event is presented in collaboration with FarFetched—an independent music collective—featuring an eclectic mix of national and St. Louis-based musicians and artists.
Tickets are available on a sliding scale: $12 (student/senior) and $20 (general admission). Seating is first come, first served, so early arrival is encouraged.
