In conjunction with The Progress of Love—a transatlantic look at representations of love across cultures—the Pulitzer invited Nigerian artist Wura-Natasha Ogunji to perform her work, A tortoise walks majestically on window ledges. The performance explored the relationship of her parents, who met in St. Louis in the 1960s. In addition to the artist’s physical movements and visual projections, Ogunji examined family history through stories and writings from her father’s dream journals, which offered a fifteen-year archive of his daily life and dream states. A conversation with the artist followed this intimate performance.
