In conjunction with the exhibition Ideal (Dis-) Placements: Old Masters at the Pulitzer, the St. Louis Poetry Center and River Styx literary magazine collaborated with Pulitzer Arts Foundation to present a marathon reading of the Metamorphoses by Ovid. More than seventy members of the St. Louis community read passages over the course of two days, beginning at 10:00 AM and ending at approximately 7:00 PM. The reading took place in the Pulitzer’s galleries, and the entire work was fully read aloud by the end of Sunday’s session. Community radio station KDHX co-sponsored the event, and Schlafly Beer provided a free happy hour each evening.
