The Contemporary and Pulitzer Launch Collaborative Weblog
July 1, 2005

St. Louis, MO – A shared weblog address puts the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis and The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts at the forefront of cultural institutions that are exploring new forms of web communication. The blog, www.contemporary-pulitzer.blogs.com, is a shared effort that allows visitors to exchange ideas directly with members of the staff.

The blog is a tool to find out how art institutions function, how exhibitions are conceived and carried out, what thoughts about art and artists are being discussed and much more. The Contemporary and Pulitzer write alternating posts encouraging visitor comments and feedback. In addition, links are provided as a one-stop resource into both the St. Louis arts scene and the art blog community.

Blogs are becoming an increasingly popular method of communication. A recent article on Forbes' website describes how art blogs in particular help to dispel some of the mystery and intimidation that is often associated with the art world. The Pulitzer and Contemporary are two of the first arts institutions to use posts as a way to directly converse with their visitors.

The Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis is currently closed for installation. Its regular open hours will resume September 17th of Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information on the Contemporary, visit www.contemporarystl.org.

The Pulitzer is open Wednesdays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information on the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts, visit www.pulitzerarts.org.
