Sound Waves is a unique collaboration between the Pulitzer and 88.1 KDHX, a nonprofit community resource for independent music, arts, and culture in St. Louis. Working closely with the Pulitzer, KDHX invites DJs and performers to respond to the art on view in the galleries. These audio interventions take place within the active sonic environment of Tadao Ando’s architecture, in which sound carries across wide spaces and echoes add a subtle density to the space. Both live and recorded music become means through which visitors are invited to think differently about the art, and the choices in music bring out new resonances, connections, and relationships between the works in the exhibition. The events noted below are a sampling from our history of programs at the Pulitzer.
