For this program, the Pulitzer has partnered with Fr. Terrence Dempsey and his course "The Pulitzer, Art, and the Public"at Saint Louis University.
This course is intended to give students both theoretical and hands-on encounters with the educational and public outreach dimensions of a museum. Along with the Pulitzer, the class also will examine other institutions in St. Louis, studying them not only for their display of art objects, but also for the educational aspects of their permanent and temporary displays.
Each student will become familiar with the exhibition Portrait/Homage/Embodiment and choose an artist whose work is of particular interest. Through research and docent training, students will be on hand in the Pulitzer's galleries to discuss the works of art during the event "People Watching at the Pulitzer" on April 17th.
